If Blackwood keeps up this pace for a few more games, you almost have to include him in the Calder race. He won't win with Makar and Hughes, but should be in the race. The fact that he has been able to play above .500 with this team in front of him, is nothing short of a damn miracle.

Undefeated in the Fredrik Claesson Era! Devils have never surrendered a goal with Freddy on the ice. The Dynasty begins now!
As for the rest of it, who cares. Experiment with any players, goaltenders and line combos you want. The season doesn't matter but evaluating players and getting them some NHL experience is worthwhile.
I've enjoyed the win/points streak but let's keep our eye on the prize and not start climbing in the standings. Looks like AZ could get passed by a couple teams and be a pretty nice first round pick. How ironic will it be that we fire Shero and then we get a great pick and have Merkley and Bahl turn out to be legit NHL assets.

Agree with Todd that Bratt has been playing great, I think the only reason he was scratched in that other game is because Hayden's dad was on the fathers trip and its not like they are playing for anything right now.
At this point I just want to see them win some games down the stretch and finish with pride, not sink and be picking top three again. Arizona can't score and has played so many more games than the other teams in the race that they are very likely to miss. If this nightmare season ends up with them getting Drysdale (the clear target for them now I think given the guys they got at the deadline), Arizona+Vancouver 1sts and Foote, Bahl etc. from these trades this will hopefully have been worth it. |

Pretend scenario:
Let's say Jack Eichel wants out of Buffalo, and Sabres have to move him. Would you move Hughes, all our 1st round picks this year, and possible more for Jack Eichel? If the package is too much, but you want Eichel, what would be a reasonable trade?
What if it's McDavid wants out of Edmonton? What's the price for his talent? |

It definitely looks like the organization's prospect pool will be in very good shape after this draft; and it's pretty good now. The question is how do we build a competitive NHL club from here. Only a few of these prospects are going to be legit NHLers let alone true impact players. Do we leverage our cap space in trades or free agency. Does the upcoming expansion change anything. Can we get an official GM and Head Coach? |

Eichel and McDavid both on long term deals and dont see either of them being moved especially for a deal that starts with Hughes who in his first year has not been a franchise player(He still could be but needs to prove it first)...I hope we dont trade any of our picks as its a deep draft and we could end up picking 5th,12 or 13 and in the 18-22 range..could be the year if these picks are solid to move in right direction especially with Ty Smith, Bahl and Foote on the horizon |

Eichel would be Hughes 2 1st and a d prospect
Mcdavid would be Hughes, 15 firsts and a d prospect |

NO. If jack wants out, the guy who willingly signed a long term deal and he wants to ditch the team. Horrible captain and teammate. Dude just got into the league too. |

I'll just be rooting for 3-2 wins by the opposite team until the end of the year, except against the Rangers. Picking 3rd is better than 7th!, let alone if a team after us wins the lotto and we get bumped back yet another pick. You don't want to come out of a terrible year without a top player to build with, although the development of all our other kids is important too. |

Isn’t there a drop off in talent after the first 8 picks? |

what do you mean our odds? If they win the lotto we don't get their pick. Chances of them winning the lotto are low. I think that pick will end up being 10-13th overall. |

I meant if we get it, where it could land. But 10 - 13 is great. |

Yeah theres a bit of a dip after the top 9, so thats where you wanna be, but still decent prospects in the 10-20 range that we should be able to get out hands on with the Yotes pick. We're in a real good spot to have a hell of a 1st round |

We've been waiting on the 41st overall Josh Jacobs for over 5 years.. hope he can show something, never impressed in preseason. |

I read Josh Jacobs was recalled but not dressing. No offense to you personally, Sir; but you do NOT take out a Fredrik Claesson to play a Josh Jacobs. Connor Carrick possibly but why would you break up a pair that has NEVER yielded one goal?
Now somebody hit Schneider in the hip so we can get a better draft pick! |

A serious hard pass - and I like Eichel. That is just way too much to give up. |

This trade makes sense for neither franchise... Buffalo would basically be replacing their core which means the whole team has to reinvent its identity for "maybe" a little value in three years, while NJ would basically be turning into Buffalo with this deal, except that they don't have an ace d in the works (Dahlin). |

We don’t have an ace D in the work because he is already here. Freddy Claesson has a better +/- then Dahlin. Not to mention Buffalo has lost 26 times with Dahlin on the ice while NJ is undefeated in the Claesson Era!
Freddy is locking this poop down!
He’s #33 because he is our Rolling Rock!
Deal with it! |
